PRESCRIBERS OF SPIRITUAL MEDICINE

"I launched spiritual pharmacy after many years of adversity and pain that I experienced in my life. I found myself thinking and feeling after getting sober, what now?

Our vision is simple, to build a culture where recovery is not just about overcoming the past but about creating a hopeful future. a future where people feel inspired, connected and empowered.

At our late night sober cafe, we host monthly open mic nights, open decks and board game nights. We also hold art and creative workshops, exhibitions and community gatherings.

WHAT IS IT THAT MAKES US HUMAN?
IS IT OUR RELENTLESS SEARCH FOR TRUTH, PURPOSE, AND MEANING?
IS IT OUR VULNERABILITY, THE QUIET RECOGNITION THAT WE CANNOT SAVE OURSELVES?
IS IT OUR LONGING FOR GOODNESS, OUR SENSE OF MORALITY, AND THE WAY SUFFERING SHAPES OUR CHARACTER?
IS IT THE INSTINCT TO STEP BEYOND COMFORT AND INTO THE UNKNOWN, DRIVEN BY CURIOSITY, HOPE, AND THE DESIRE TO LIVE MORE AUTHENTICALLY?
IS IT THAT WISDOM IS SO OFTEN BORN THROUGH PAIN, FAILURE, AND PERSEVERANCE?
OR IS IT OUR TENDENCY TO TEST OUR OWN SELF-SUFFICIENCY, ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT WE ARE FINITE, FRAGILE, AND DEEPLY IN NEED OF ONE ANOTHER AND OUR CREATOR?
THIS EXHIBITION INVITES ARTISTS IN RECOVERY TO EXPLORE WHAT IT MEANS TO BE HUMAN.
THROUGH PAINTING AND/OR OTHER VISUAL ARTS (ONLY WALL MOUNTABLE TYPES OF ARTWORK WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR SELECTION) WE WELCOME WORK THAT WRESTLES WITH IDENTITY, SUFFERING, HOPE, CONNECTION, BREAKTHROUGH, RESILIENCE, LOVE, FAITH, DOUBT, BELONGING, AND THE SHARED EXPERIENCES THAT UINITE US ALL.
RATHER THAN OFFERING EASY ANSWERS, WE INVITE HONEST QUESTIONS. ART HAS ALWAYS BEEN A WAY OF MAKING SENSE OF THE HUMAN CONDITION, OF GIVING FORM TO THE THINGS WE STRUGGLE TO PUT INTO WORDS.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE HUMAN?
WE'D LOVE TO SEE YOUR OWN INTERPRETATION OF THE QUESTION.
